Born in Brooklyn in 1943, John moved to Miami at the age of 3. The Katon family quickly made a name for themselves in the South Florida gun industry.

In 1959 at the age of 17, John began selling guns on 8th Street in Miami. Tamiami Guns was one of the largest retailers of guns and ammo throughout the '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s. Even boasting the largest indoor gun range in the USA at his 40th Street location for almost a decade straight. John was so influential, in fact, many of today's gun laws in South Florida were designed with the input of himself, his associates, and his friends.

Today, though our retail stores are closed, we continue to accept online orders. Additionally, we continue to export and wholesale guns, ammo, military/police/tactical equipment, PPE, and more.
