Regulations

Regulations

FFLs are required by the GCA and 27 CFR Part 478 to maintain records of firearm acquisition and disposition, including exported firearms. The AECA 22 U.S.C. § 2778 and Executive Order 13637, issued on March 8th, 2013, under federal law, regulate the exportation of firearms.

Under the Gun Control Act a Type 01 FFL license is required to export firearms and is granted on an individual basis, with the U.S. Department of State responsible for issuing licenses for all firearms except shotguns, which are under the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), which is governed by the U.S. Department of State, has rules and regulations that must be followed while obtaining an export license. Firearms, ammunition, and other defense devices are authorized and licensed for export by Tamiami International Equipment, Inc.
